Our adventure begins…
Once I heard the Ogden Temple was having an open house I wanted to go. Bad. So
when I heard that Ricky was getting the week off of football I scheduled it!! It was also my mother in laws 60th birthday!!
It all began with looking at flights. Since Randy works for Southwest Airlines we fly free, but we fly standby. The flights looked ok leaving Monday and coming home Wednesday. Then the weekend before they filled up. I was super bummed. That’s when my crazy plan was set. I’ll fly out Friday night to Houston, stay in a hotel, then fly to Phoenix Saturday morning and stay with my big sister until Sunday night. Randy agreed. We were off!!!
Once in Houston we ate at a Wendy’s in the airport before heading to the hotel.
It was so fun. The kids are finally at that right age where it wasn’t bad at all. We slept ok, then off to Phoenix!!
The nice thing is that the gate agents noticed I was by myself and that I had Cameron with me. They gave us preboard passes!! So cool!! We left Houston to Albuquerque NM. But once we got there the flight to Phoenix was not going to happen. A flight from Chicago took all our empty seats. Sooo…needless to say we were stuck in the airport for 10 hours until the next flight at 7:30pm. The gate agent felt bad for me and gave me a distressed passenger rate at a little hotel. $49!! We left and spent the day there. We watched a little tv and a few of us took a nap, including me!! We walked to an Applebee’s to eat dinner, then back to the airport for our flight!!
We stayed with my sister, Jennifer, in Phoenix. It was so much fun!! We watched a movie, Michael showed them his card magic tricks, and we sat and visited. It was so fun. I wish we has family closer.
At the airport Sunday to go to Salt Lake City, we found these coke drinks with my families name on them!! They were all next to each other just like this!! Cool!!
While in Syracuse at my parents house, my kids hung with their cousins. Michael, Jessica, Shaelynn, and Adam all drew art work!! The bigger one Michael and Jessica drew is Hawaii with Palm trees and all!! Shae has a Mickey and a Minnie and Adam is cute scribbles. They were all super proud of their artwork. I think they did good!!
Monday morning Randy flew in!! Yay!! He made the flights we couldn’t make as a family. We just spent the day relaxing.
Tuesday morning we all got up to go to the Temple open house. It was such a good experience. It was SO beautiful inside!! Bigger than our Dallas temple. I think the kids really enjoyed it as well.
Then of course I couldn’t go to Utah without eating at my favorite place, Cafe Rio!!! I thought I would give the burrito a try again. It was good, but man the kids pork quesadilla is just so yummy!!! So I ate half the burrito and then went back in line for the pork quesadilla. I thought I would save it for breakfast Wednesday!! 😉
My friend Molly got me hooked on these Jamberry nails. I brought my page I just bought so I can talk my twin into doing her toes with me. Oh man….toes were a lot harder than nails to do. You really have to be flexible to get up close and personal on each toe!!! But we did it!!! It was fun times for sure. Lots of laughs:) Cute huh??!!
While we were doing our toes Michael and Jessica wanted to make these marshmallow yumminess!! Little chefs in training!!
Now Tuesday evening we drove to Salt Lake to surprise my mother in law for her birthday!! It was so much fun!! I love surprising them!! Dinner was awesome and so was the company. She was so surprised.
Onto Wednesday morning!! We originally listed on a flight to stay the night in Albuquerque. But then Wednesday morning we found a flight getting us home to dallas!! Yay!!! Again we were able to preboard. This airline is awesome. We went SLC to PHX to El Paso. Once in El Paso we were going to take a flight to San Antonio, but saw a nonstop flight to dallas….so we tried it!! We made it on!! I was excited to be taking one less flight.
With taking all those flight, we lost nothing UNTIL when we got home in Dallas. We left my pink iPod on the plane. Bummer. Let’s hope someone is honest and turns it in. My Cameron is so upset.
So needless to say we traveled 4 out of the 6 days we were gone. Fun times!! Lots of awesome memories too!! It was worth all the craziness.
