Day 50

Out of all the side effects of the chemo, I would take exhaustion over the rest. Becca has had very little nausea, which seems to be a gift. She had several visitors today, which she enjoyed. Some were blasts from the past, others were family. It seems to help her get through the routine of hospital life.

50 days is a long time, who would have thought? It seems all a blur to me. We still have a long road and we will continue to rely on a lot of friends and family. I am very grateful for the love and generosity of so many. I know I have written this before, but Sunday seems to be a day of recollection and reflection. We are so truly blessed. A very close friend of mine asked me today about the tag line on the top of the page. It reads, “Our journey through the blessings of Cancer, the power of Prayer, and Faith in our Father in heaven.” I feel strongly that this has been a blessing. With great trials come great victories. Our family is closer than ever. My faith in my Father in heaven is eternal. With faith and prayer we can overcome obstacles. I, like my father-in-law, feel that my glass is half full. There is always a small light somewhere and we can’t sweat the small stuff as life is too short. Please keep your family close and do those things that keep getting pushed aside.

Please keep up the prayers 🙂

Team Gibbons,

Just to hear that Becca is going to be able to spend time at home-(SLC home) is a blessing. Plus the bonus- she’s with her family & the boys & you in a comfy home setting environment! Woohoo! After 50 days of hospital, any amount of time at home would look just great to me!

I just happen to have family in SLC- I may just have to make a visit out to see my sis and drop over to see you guys. This is soo very much easier on you all I would think. And Randy -you are correct, if you have to choose a side effect-let it be mild exhaustion, and then I’d just sleep, and sleep, and sleep. I’m
pulling for you guys, and still you are topping my prayer list.

Do you need anything from Dallas? If I can find a way to arrange a trip out there- it will be in a couple of weeks- I’m traveling this weekend to Boston and having to fly home on 9/11..must say I’m not real thrilled with that, but what are ya gonna do?? I gotta work.
Randy, I’ll phone your cell to discuss arrangements once I see what the dates may be and to see if it works for you guys, I can bring masks to wear-I just want to see you guys in person again.

Becca- I’m as proud of you as if you were my own sister, and love seeing the pictures. It’s your strength on those steps that blew the PT & OT Dr’s away I’ll bet!!
I know you’re so happy to get to go home for a bit. And I am just thrilled for you.!! I look forward to finding a date that I can run up there to visit.

Love to all- you’re all in my prayers. You’ve taught me the value of prayer each and every day!!
Love,
Sherry
