Day 42

Today has been good as well for her. Becca is a bit tired, but her medication should kick in soon. She is working really hard today through OT & PT. Today in PT she was able to walk with a walker for the first time. She actually took 72 steps! Becca is impressive, that’s for sure. She got herself mostly dressed again today and practiced tying a shoe. She just wants everyone to know that she is very thankful for the kind messages and for all your prayers. Keep the faith and we will continue to work hard.

Hello Team Gibbons!
I’ve been out of town since Tuesday and this entire week -I’ve wondered & prayed that when I got home and checked in there would be great news. Who knew it would be FABULOUS news. Dressing yourself, walking, standing unassisted. It’s like I just awoke and I landed in the best shopping mall in America (which is of course my idea of a slice of heaven- maybe not for others-to each his own). This is such great advancement Rebecca- I am so proud of you and thrilled to my toes to hear this. You now get to measure your own progress and have a real measuring stick. Even though it is a hassel to move hospitals- it could be a blessing in disguise. All that moving is only making you stronger & stronger and building up your stamina.Yee haa…So happy Ricky got settled in school-I too was concerned on this transfer for him. But with family all around- it just makes life smoother and easier and less stressful.
Thank you again for sharing this journey ..I miss seeing you at work Randy- and will be glad when you guys get to come home. That means Becca is well and what a joyful time that is going to be.
Love you guys,
Sherry

Wow, what great news about the progress Becca is making! I’m sure the detemination to get out of the hospital is quite an inspiration. You all are continually in our prayers.

Hi there,

It is so wonderful to hear the progress you are making. I’ll say Becca is impressive and more than that an inspiration to us all in walking in faith and determination. Randy, I too miss you around work, especially in the early morning when I drink my tea. Look forward to when we can share early morning “tea time” again soon.

Hugs to all,
Stacy

Randy and Becca,
Hello, my name is Derek Maxfield. My sister is Melanie Huscroft who I believe you know from her old ward in Dallas. She may have told you, but when I was newly wed 8 years ago I had leukemia and did all my chemotherapy treatments up at the U of U hospital. If there is ANYTHING I can do, pleeeeeeeease let me know. I admire you so much and I have been inspired by reading your comments. I can’t even imagine haveing to go through such intensive therapy with kids and the stresses of employment waiting and all of that. Good luck and we will remember to include your family in our prayers. Please let me know how I can help, as I live local here in Lehi and would love to do anything.
