Day 318

Becca has been doing alright the last couple of days. Although she has been in a lot of pain, they took her off the oxygen and have continued the physical therapy. She was able to visit with a friend on the 4th floor that we have all bonded with. He has the same type of cancer, with the same doctors, but his was in his leg (he is doing well in case you are wondering). It was good for her to see him again, this could be the last hospital stay!

Becca is still slated to go home tomorrow. We have the transport already set up, since she can’t sit for another week. They should also remove her drain and get her off everything else. The best news of all, she was able to urinate today for the first time without the catheter! Hallelujah! I know this is a bit personal, but this was one of the last major hurdles from the surgery, but I know there is a ‘second’ one as well. They changed the bandage on her back and apparently it looks really good, with no redness. This is the first time they have changed it since the surgery. We will just take anything we can get and run with it 🙂

More to come, please keep praying… it’s working as always!

Day 316

Becca is doing well this morning. The CT scan came back clear, and her blood pressure is doing well. Her heart is still beating a little fast, but not where it was. They still are talking about sending her home on Monday. They are going to work on taking her off of the oxygen today and trying to move her pain medicine down a little. She is also going to continue physical therapy through the weekend (walking). Becca went around the entire 5th floor last night! She just loves to stand since she cannot be on her back or sit.

All in all she is getting better, a little at a time. She still has a smile on her face and is excited to be cancer free!

Keep praying for her, we love you all.

Day 315

Becca is doing well today, her blood numbers are up, although her blood pressure is still a little low. The took her in for a CT of her belly just in case she was bleeding internally. She got up and walked today. She wanted to visit her friends down stairs on the forth floor, so we hit the elevators and went and made the rounds. Becca is just off the charts with her walking! Everyone was so excited to see her down there. Now she’s taking a nice nap 🙂

They have given her a total of 7 pints of blood since the surgery. I know we all know how important it is to give blood. But now that I have seen it first hand, how much just one person can go through, I want to urge you all to donate when you can, wherever you are. Not for Becca, just for others out there that will need it. I can’t even imagine what it would have been like if we were not able to receive it.

All in all she is doing well, pain is still an issue (go figure) as well as the possibility of infection. Just please continue to pray 🙂

Day 314 Update #1

Becca is still doing well, she had another nice ‘stroll’ around the nursing station again this afternoon. The staff is just so impressed by her will and determination to get better. They rarely if ever see anyone the day after surgery walk around, much less stand up. They are still working with her low blood pressure and are giving her another two units of packed red blood cells. The pain seems manageable, but she’s so tired, she keeps going in and out.

I have to tell a quick funny story (Becca might hurt me later). She has been tired as the pain medicine is starting to catch up with her a little. Also, when she receives blood, they give her benadryl. Well, that’s what knocks her out and makes her a little loopy. Well, she woke up for a minute and said, “I had a weird dream. I was in a banana costume and was trying to cross the street when I slipped on a banana peel and hurt my bottom.”

Thank you all SO much for all the love!

Day 314

Becca is doing really well this morning! They are still working on her blood pressure, but it has come up a lot since yesterday. The physical therapists just finished working with her. She was able to stand up out of bed and with the use of a walker, stroll out of her room and make a lap! Becca is doing so well and fighting so hard. She continues to say “I have a high pain tolerance and I’m doing this for my family.” We love her so much!

Another update later…
