Becca is doing well this morning. They got her pain under control and she is getting a little better every day. She has more movement in her legs and feet and this morning she knows if her foot is up or down now.

I’m going to be honest with you all, I have a VERY difficult decision to make now. We need to figure out if we are going to move her. I have been struggling with this the past few days. I have been praying and reading the scriptures on this one. Our options are continue with the doctors here, or move her to Salt Lake to the Huntsman Cancer facility. The biggest thing we have learned is support is king and that’s what it will take to beat this. All of our family is in Utah and we would have a tremendous support system there. I also know that we have a HUGE support system here. The Huntsman center has also sucessfully treated this type of cancer where they have never seen this here. The hardest part is if we go, it will be for several months. We won’t move there, just live with family for a while. I suppose many that go through cancer treatment don’t have family close to a center and I feel lucky in that aspect. I know we at Southwest Airlines do a LOT with the Ronald McDonald house which helps family’s during treatments. We wouldn’t need that. But I’m gaining insight into how hard some of the decsions families need to make under such pressure. I need to get Ricky into school there, not to mention how do you pack for 3-4 months?

Bottom line, I know the Lord will protect us and is guiding us. We have had some things just laid out before us, like connections with Angel Flight (she has to fly in a private plane to Utah) and how this awesome organization helps families in need. Also the contacts with the Huntsman center and their willingness to help. I haven’t finalized this yet, but I wanted so share some of my thoughts as I go through one of the most difficult decesions to date.

Becca is in some pain today. The backed her off of most of her meds to try and figure out which one she is having a reaction to. She broke out in a rash the other day. She did sit in the wheelchair device for about an hour this morning, which is very good.

Some of you know we are trying to get a ‘second opinion’ from some other cancer hospitals to figure out what is going on. We don’t know if we will actually go anywhere yet, but we need to make sure they are doing everything they can to help her.

I’ll keep you informed on any change, we are just trying to make sure we have her in the right place.

Becca is doing well today and has a good spirit with her. She is still weak, but was able to sit in a wheelchair for about 40 minutes. That unfortunately takes about everything out of her. She was able to take the sacrament today, which helped a lot. I was comforted today in knowing that so many continue to pray for us. It seems every day they change their minds and we tend to start doubting. I know that this team is one of the best and I have to trust their decisions. The only thing more we know today is they still haven’t discounted the fact that the MS may again just be a side affect of the tumor and not really MS… hang in there, I know we are.

A friend of ours gave a cancer center a phone call to get more information about this type of cancer. They broke it down like this in the e-mail. Oncogenic osteoblastic sarcoma, a type of bone cancer. Oncogenic means: cancer causing, Osteoblastic refers to the Osteoblasts which are cells responsible for forming bone matrix (bone matrix is the connective tissue and mineral that gives bone its strength) and a sarcoma is a cancerous tumor arising in the bone, cartilage, fibrous tissue, or muscle. So more easily said, this is an osteosarcoma or bone cancer. (Please be careful what you look up, as I know I am. Most of what you find is only part of what it is. Apparently this is a common cancer found in children, and mostly in the femur bone. So that’s why it’s still a little difficult to find anything.)

I just wanted to share what little information we have for now, we should learn more tomorrow. Keep up the prayers and I’m so grateful for all the help we are receiving. I know some don’t feel like they have helped like they have wanted to… but hang in there, this might be a long trip for all of us. In the mean time, keep asking our Father in Heaven for a miracle.
