Day 314

Becca is doing really well this morning! They are still working on her blood pressure, but it has come up a lot since yesterday. The physical therapists just finished working with her. She was able to stand up out of bed and with the use of a walker, stroll out of her room and make a lap! Becca is doing so well and fighting so hard. She continues to say “I have a high pain tolerance and I’m doing this for my family.” We love her so much!

Day 313 Update #4

Becca is now out of the ICU and back in her own room, which is a ‘critical care’ room. She is doing really well and SO happy… she keeps saying, “I’m cancer free!” Her pain is under control now and they are monitoring just about everything. They are giving her some more blood as her pressure is a little low, but they are happy with the results of everything.

I wanted to give an illustration for the sacrum and tail bone (coccyx). They removed the right side and down of the last two of the dorsal foramina through the coccyx. According to the doctor, they saved as much of the left side as they could. He mentioned that when he normally finds the tumor, similar to a walnut, but Becca’s was almost dissolved.

Day 313 Update #3

The main surgeon just came out.

The surgery went very well, she will be able to walk again! He took the bottom section of her sacrum and the tail bone. He also took some nerves. So the only two issues are infection and bowel and bladder issues. The surgeon feels confident they got everything and the tumor shrunk so much that it almost wasn’t visible anymore. He also had enough to work with that they didn’t have to do a flap, so the plastic surgeon didn’t really need to do much at all. She has a drain for blood and they only had to give her two pints of blood. Becca will need to stay on her side to relieve pressure on her backside.

So now, we just wait to see if she can regain control of her bowels and bladder. This could take days or months, it just depends on her body. Each person is different. We have a one in four chance she will get in an infection based on where the incision is. For now she is going to finish getting cleaned up and they will move her to the ICU unit for a while. They expect her to be here at least until Monday.

We have seen a miracle! We can’t thank you all for ALL the love and support we have received. I know our Father in heaven hears and answers our prayers. PLEASE continue to pray that she doesn’t get an infection and her nerves come back to life 🙂
