Day 247

I wish I could say Becca is finally home, but she’s not. She is still in the hospital. They can’t get her blood counts to come up. They have come up a little, but not near where they need them to be. The doctors can’t seem to figure out why they just keep staying so low. They are going to try and take her off some of the additional medication to see if that will help.

Please keep Becca in your thoughts and prayers. For those that are in Utah, she could use some visitors this week. She will be by herself for a few days due to scheduling difficulties. We know she will be alright, we just need her to get better.

We love you all.

Day 235

Today is the first day Becca’s numbers have been stable. We believe she has finally turned the corner. For now, we just continue to believe that she has. As soon as her numbers (white blood, red blood, potassium, etc) are within a good range they will let her go home. They have stopped giving her whole blood and platelets. They have slowed down the antibiotics a little and her fever has stabilized. We believe that it might be Saturday if she continues on her current path. It’s been a rough road to say the least.

Please keep her in your prayers and I will do my best to keep you all up to speed. We love you all.

Day 231

Becca went to the emergency room on Thursday. Her blood pressure was way to low and she was starting to black out. They transferred her up to the Huntsman Cancer center to get some antibiotics and more evaluations. They aren’t quite sure what is going on, but it’s not right. They put in another PICC line since they need to put in so many things via IV that the port just isn’t enough.

She tried to take a shower today and started complaining of chest pains. They are trying to figure out what is causing all the problems. Becca isn’t doing very well. Please say a prayer for her today, she could really use it.

Day 228

Becca is doing well the last few days. She hasn’t been throwing up, but she has been feeling a lot of bone pain. They give her shots to boost her production of bone marrow, which causes the pain. She is on some medication to ‘take care of the pain,’ so she’s a little out of it right now.

Hang in there with us, more details to come.

Day 225

The last couple of days have actually been very good. Becca had mentioned that she kept getting really sick after the two day chemo to the pharmacist. She told Becca that she would take care of it and add a little extra to her mix. Well, it worked! There has been very little nausea and she has been able to eat. So we have been able to spend quality time as a family this weekend.

With the good news, comes the bad. As always, there was a bit of confusion with the doctors. It appears that she still has 5 chemo’s left. We were told she skipped a cycle, but we were informed yesterday that you can’t just skip a cycle. We think the Doctor was just confused on what week she was on. So, we have a few more left, but I’m positive we will get over the ‘four more’ hump. It seems like I have been saying that for a month now! Becca is really ok with it and it’s according to the schedule we received at the beginning. She is just keeping her ‘eye on the prize’ and trying to keep it positive. I’m just impressed by her will power. Becca is by far the strongest person I have ever met.

Please keep her in your prayers. She has one last surgery at the end, which we pray will be a ‘walk in the park.’ We love you all. Keep the faith.
