Day 341

We made it!!!

Becca made it home for the first time in 341 days. It was a emotion filled day to say the least. It started at 3:45 am MST for a 6:10 am flight. The boys did well on the flights and we arrived 10 minutes early into big D (what else would you expect from Southwest?). We were surprised by a huge Southwest Airlines family greeting as we got of the plane, including flowers, banner, food, and lots of hugs! It was awesome 🙂

We then headed for the house, were we again were greeted by a lot of friends lining the street. It was so exciting to see so many people there to greet us. I have posted my very armature video of the event here on YouTube. Becca’s smile was so big and she was so surprised. They had tied yellow ribbons, had posters, and more flowers. A secret Southwest Airlines friend came by and planted some flowers in the garden… they looked great! She then came in and was surprised that we had painted the inside of the house while she was gone. Needless to say, emotions were running wild and it was overwhelming.

We cannot thank you all for all your generosity and help. It was truly a hero’s welcome. We have been surrounded by so many people who love us and it’s because of all of you that she has beat the cancer!

Becca still has a rough road ahead, but it’s nothing compared to what she has seen. It’s mostly recovery and follow-ups. She still is numb from her neck down, but she can feel. It will take time for her body to heal and regenerate. Her Doctors in Utah have given her the green light and will allow her to do anything she wants.

We continue to pray for her recovery. Our Father in heaven has watched over us and heard our cries. He has made us all better people because of it. Our testimonies have grown leaps and bounds through this opportunity, and we just hope that we can share it with everyone. We love you all! Please keep up with the blog, I plan on continuing with anything that comes up.

Thank you all SO much!

Day 338

Things are still going well. They have switched some of her medicine around which will make it easier for the trip home. We are still looking at arriving back in Texas on Tuesday around 12:30 in the airport! We are all so excited, but it’s hard since we have been here for so long. It’s amazing what you accumulate after almost 10 months. I have been taking full suitcases back and forth for the last several weeks, but it looks like we are still going to have to ship a lot of things.

All in all, Becca is doing well. She has been a little nauseated with the change in some of her medicine, but we are hoping by Tuesday she will be feeling a lot better and be used to to the switch. She meets with the Oncologist on Monday which should be her last visit for several months.

Thank you all so much for your prayers. She is still healing and getting a little feeling back each day. It’s a slow process, but hopefully in the next several months she can fully recover. We love you all! Keep praying for her.

Day 332

Things have been going well, Becca is getting stronger every day. She is walking a lot and starting to go up and down the stairs several times a day. She was even able to lift Cameron into the high chair today!

Becca has an appointment with the pain/medication specialists this week, but her last visit is on Monday of next week. We are off to Texas on Tuesday the 12th! She didn’t even want to wait for the end of the week… go figure. So for now, in just over a week she will be back in her home for the first time in 332 days 🙂

Please keep praying for a quick and full healing. We love you all!

Day 327

Becca was able to meet with the surgeon today. They took out the stitches, took out the drain and the mid line in her arm. He stated that it looks great and it very happy that there doesn’t appear to be any infection. She can now sit or lay on her back, as long as she can support the pain. She can’t swim for about 4 weeks, and has to keep the drain hole covered while she showers. Becca needs to visit again in three months for her scans. What a great day!

So where does that leave us? Well, she has an oncologist follow up appointment in a couple of weeks and she needs to get her mobility back. But we honestly feel that she could be home before her birthday (June 16th)! She still is numb from the neck down (remember that the cancer was in her sacrum, but her body attacked the spinal cord in her neck causing swelling and numbing). They say with time that will continue to get better. However, she can walk and has control of her bowels.

I know our prayers have been answered! We will soon be coming home and begin our new life. Please keep praying that she continues to heal and comes home soon…. 😀

Day 324

Becca has been doing well, just in a considerable amount of pain. We had the pain people adjust it again, hopefully it will help more. She has been able to ‘do’ everything that we hoped for. It has been a blessing and we just pray she will continue to gain strength and control over her whole body. She still has her visit on Tuesday, which should shed light on how everything is going and how long before we can go home!

Please keep praying… 🙂
