Day 42

Today has been good as well for her. Becca is a bit tired, but her medication should kick in soon. She is working really hard today through OT & PT. Today in PT she was able to walk with a walker for the first time. She actually took 72 steps! Becca is impressive, that’s for sure. She got herself mostly dressed again today and practiced tying a shoe. She just wants everyone to know that she is very thankful for the kind messages and for all your prayers. Keep the faith and we will continue to work hard.

Day 41

Becca is having an exceptional day today! They gave her some medicine to ‘pick her up’ as the other medicine makes her sleepy. She is a lot more chatty today, which is the first in a LONG time. She walked the bars three times today and they made her do squats at the end of each. They are trying to get her off the oxygen and they are trying different oral meds to get off the IV. She is working her tail off and doing a great job. I am so proud of how far she has come and how the Lord has blessed her life. The prayers are working, thank you all so much!

Day 40

Today has been the first real day of physical and occupational therapy (PT/OT). Becca was able to work with OT this morning and actually dressed herself for the most part. She worked with OT and was able to stand up, move to her wheelchair and take a ride to the ‘gym’ area. She then was able to stand up using the parallel bars, hold herself for a minute, and walk to the end of the bars with little assistance! She is so determined to get better. It’s actually funny, she is thanking all the Therapists for helping and working with her. They are tickled to do it as they don’t normally receive compliments. Most just want out of here and feel they are stuck. We are thrilled and know it’s getting close to the road to recovery.

Day 39 PM

Just a late night update, since I can’t sleep much (they wake us up about every two hours). I was looking over the last few entries and I missed some key advancements.

First of all, Ricky had a great day at school on Monday. I’m not sure if he was nervous, but I was! He is having a good time in his new class here, but still says that it’s not Texas. He has a friend who lives next door that is in his class. They are able to walk to school together, which helps out a lot.

The other big event I failed to post was Becca was able to stand unassisted for a minute yesterday. We were all in shock and she had a grin the size of Texas on her face. It was awesome! I know she is going to give it all she has so that she can ‘get out of here’ as soon as she can. She has a LONG way to go, don’t get me wrong, but the desire is one of the most difficult things to have, from what we are told. Becca has it 🙂

Day 39

We have just moved her to LDS hospital in Salt Lake City. She did really well on the transport and they will allow us to be with her, unlike most patients. So I will be spending the night with her here in the room. They will probably move her to another room tomorrow, but we will find out more information in the morning.

Thank you so much for keeping up with her 🙂
